Plum, mustard and forest green:
the chic interiors colour palette for 2016
Spring’s bright palette not your thing? Consider vibrant, warm schemes and pick out muted mustard, chic green and rich plum for your new schemes.
Bold mustard is the perfect tonic to jolt us out of winter doldrums. It’s a pantone chart away from the bland yellow pastels of our youth, delivering both chic and effusive in one lick of paint or key statement piece.

We love: Try Farrow & Ball’s Babouche in a room with plenty of footfall to create a punch. Or this Napoleon Bee velvet cushion (£125) from the Timorous Beasties collection at Liberty will add a pop without garishness.
Rich plum hues bring comfort and charm to a space, especially when texture comes into play. No need to relegate this deep, rich shade to soft furnishings though, it makes a great statement colour on walls, murals or larger pieces.

We love: Bring a slice of Italian glamour to your home with a pot of Palazzo Plum from the Little Greene Paint Company. (£5.25)
Forest green chic
Timeless and elegant, this shade reminds us that nature is about to spring back into action. We’re fond of it in velvet but there’s room for versatility here too – think accessories, shelving knick-knacks and bold foliage.
Abigain Ahern’s Mercer Green paint (£33 for 2.5l) is a surprisingly versatile shade for walls, teaming with lots of different colours.
Designer Fi Duke, who runs her own consultancy Fi Interiors is a big fan of forest green. She explained: “I think a dark, rich, deep green is underestimated. When teamed with brown or black, it can transform an interior space, adding glamour but also calm and tranquility to a space.
“I always love to include foliage in my home to soften a space, so by adding forest green using paint, wallpaper or furniture it creates the same effect.”

We love: Fi has picked out our favourite green number, this velvet sofa from the Made.com and Living etc collaboration (£999, Made.com). It combines a classic silhouette with statement cushion buttons for substance with added style.
