British-born French cookery champion Rachel has a rainbow family heritage, encompassing China, Malaysia and Austria – plus she lived in Bavaria as a teenager. Hopping from culture to culture, her Instagram feed is part food inspiration, part travelogue.

She’’s also incorporated her Instagram account into her latest book Rachel Khoo’’s Kitchen Notebook. Many of her recipe images are by food photography king David Loftus (@davidloftus), which makes her a must-follow.

We liked: Pistachio and pomegranate cake

Inspired by Istanbul’’s pomegranate juice stands, this recipe uses the fruit for flavouring and colour.

Red magazine’’s lifestyle director’’s Herb and Flower Cookbook is one of the most beautiful books of the year – and puts an innovative twist on lots of familiar favourite recipes. Not only that, but there are planting and growing tips too.

His Instagram account is a feast for the eyes, with an authentic feel and an insight into other accounts that he champions.

We liked: Chive flower pizzetta

Somewhere between a pizza, an upscale garlic bread and an open sandwich, the pizzetta can be as elaborate or as simple as you like.

John Whaites – @johnwhaitebakes

Former Great British Bake Off winner John has capitalised on his success with two successful cookbooks highlighting his interesting flavour combinations. We’’re most tempted to try fig and rose savarin or salted caramel rum babas.

His Instagram feed has a stripped-back, food-focussed feel and is genuinely stylish, with witty notes.

We liked: Coconut and lemon bakewell tart
